Welcome back to you, my dear readers too.
Where have you been?
I’ve been to London to see the Queen!
Well, not quite, although I did see a rather marvellous fancy dress participant dressed as a first class stamp at the Strongroom in Shoreditch recently. I’ve been here, there and everywhere really. March was rather manic, every weekend was spent away either in London or the Lake District, so time has been at a premium.
I’m getting used to this new travelling lifestyle, living my weekends away from home means I have to be über organised in the week. I have to squeeze all of my weekend chores into Monday-Thursday evenings so I struggled to find the time to concentrate on the blog.
I also wanted to make some changes to it, you may notice I have a slightly new look. Ok, ok, it’s not like it’s a complete overhaul. I often look at new themes and ooh and aah over them however I don’t feel they suit me perfectly. I like this for the moment. I created a new colour palette based on this (see my related post on how to create a colour palette), tweaked the header by adding a hummingbird. They are everywhere else in my life so I felt I should have one on here.
What else is new?
I’ve recategorized! I felt I needed to simplify the categories, they were all over the place and as it is I worry constantly about not having a niche blog. My new categories are:
Scribble: creative writing, short stories, writing prompts and exercises. Here you will also find the occasional song lyric and my beautiful blogging series.
Sparkle: healthy living, recipes, living with alopecia and as part of my healthier living series… tea reviews!!
Shine: here you’ll find a true slice of me, life is beautiful, positive quotes, mindfulness and things that make life better.
Smile: all the things that make me smile that don’t fall into the above. Knitting patterns, books, films, places I’ve travelled to, reviews etc.
So, are you here to stay this time?
For sure! I have missed blogging, but the thing I have to remember for now is that blogging is a hobby and for now it doesn’t pay. I would love to be a full time blogger but for now I have a full time job as a PA, two dogs, one cat and a boyfriend not to mention other hobbies and of course friends! It’s a big thing committing to a blog – it’s like another full time job, that doesn’t pay. But I love it!! I got to a point where I had to put it to one side to deal with other things and so it went into maintenance mode. My cyberstalker got the better of me for a short while. I couldn’t bear logging in and seeing more comments, more abuse. The good thing is, the important people in my life are 100% behind me, I’ve had some lovely comments from some lovely people and I felt more inspired to get back behind the wheel (well Macbook. iPhone, iPad – whichever) and blog on!
I look forward to sharing many more sparkly, shiny scribbles with you. Don’t forget you can follow me on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram and Bloglovin’.
